Community College Offers Home Care Training for Homeless

As the demand for home health care workers looks to rise in tandem with the nation’s aging baby boomer population, one Massachusetts community college has partnered with a homeless shelter to provide a home care aide certificate program, reports Enterprise News. Father Bill’s & MainSpring is a nonprofit agency that provides shelter and transitional services to homeless people in the Brockton and Quincy, Massachusetts areas. The nonprofit has teamed with Massasoit Community College to offer training for home health aide certificates at the school’s Brockton campus, which course administrators hope the program can offer an escape from the cycle of poverty for those homeless and others searching for work. Including home health aid training, the course also offers areas of certification for homemaker and personal care homemaker designations.  The five-week course, featuring 20-hours of class time a week, is free for those referred by Father Bill’s & MainSpring, and is also opening to the public for a cost of $457, plus textbook fees.  The job outlook for home health aides is favorable, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, with projected to grow 70% between 2010 and 2020.  Read the Enterprise News article.

SAC stands for Student Activities Council. They show a movie to refresh the mind of students. They show the star war movies which really refresh the mind of students. This type of council is really needed and useful for the youth or students. These types of blogs are really informative for us.
